MN Commons Land Farm Walk @ Victoria Gardens

Join Farmers of the Urban Farm and Garden Alliance and Twin Cities Agricultural Land Trust at the Victoria Gardens.

2022 Minnesota Commons Land Farm Walks

Join together this season for farm walks at three different commons-based farms (UFGA/TCALT, Sharing Our Roots, and Kilimo) to learn more about how emerging farmers are working together to steward land, grow food, and operate agricultural businesses outside of private land ownership. Engage with others about Commons and share visions for a future of shared land stewardship.

What is a land commons? Land commons are not a new concept, Indigenous cultures across the globe, for whom land ownership is a settler/colonial imposition, practiced for millenia (and still practice) community land relationships that are centered around community ownership and relationship with land.

What is Minnesota Commons Land? Minnesota Commons Land is an emergent group of allied organizations, farmers, and community members who support land access for emerging farmers who choose to farm in community land relationships.

The Urban Farm and Garden Alliance (UFGA) is a collaboration of eight to ten Community Gardens and a group of Backyard Box Gardeners that promotes reconciliation, healing, peace, social and environmental justice through the cultivation and sharing of food in the Summit-University (Rondo) and Frogtown communities of St. Paul, MN.

TCALT is a community-driven network that advocates for long term, affordable access to community governed land for growing food. Our board, collaborators, members and volunteers facilitate equitable relationships between urban farmers, community gardeners and organizers, local government, and planners. We believe that growing food promotes community health and wealth, and provides space for intergenerational healing from the ongoing trauma of systemic racism and poverty.
